Acacia Cliffs Lodge

Perched high above Lake Taupō, Acacia Cliffs Lodge is all about the view – and what a view it is. From its elevated setting at Acacia Bay, the lodge looks out across the lake towards the mountains of the Central Plateau, creating a spectacular backdrop from morning through to sunset.

Contemporary and stylish without feeling overly formal, Acacia Cliffs is a relaxed place to settle in for a few days and enjoy everything Taupō has to offer. Large windows and generous outdoor spaces make the most of the setting, while comfortable guest rooms provide a peaceful retreat at the end of the day.

Mornings begin with a gourmet breakfast, freshly prepared and best enjoyed at a leisurely pace while taking in those wonderful lake and mountain views. There’s no need to rush – another coffee and a little more time admiring the scenery is very much part of the experience.

Later in the day, return to the lodge for one of the nicest rituals of a stay at Acacia Cliffs – delicious canapés and a glass of wine each evening. It’s a chance to relax, chat about the day and watch the changing light over Lake Taupō.

For guests who would prefer to stay in for the evening, dinner can be pre-arranged at least 48 hours in advance and is available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as public holidays.

When it’s time to explore, Taupō has plenty to keep you busy. Cruise or kayak on the lake, visit Huka Falls, discover the region’s geothermal landscapes, walk or cycle the many nearby trails, or simply head into Taupō for its cafés, restaurants and shops.

Further afield, the dramatic landscapes of Tongariro National Park and the Central Plateau make for a memorable day out.

Then it’s back to the lodge, a glass of wine and that view.
