Nice Hotel

Maori Legend tells us the Ruapehu, the beautiful maid, was married to Taranaki. One day, while her husband was away hunting she was wooed and won by Tongariro. When Taranaki returned at the end of the day he surprised the guilty pair. A battle ensued in which Taranaki was defeated and retreated towards the west coast carving out the Wanganui River as he went. (An Encyclopaedia of New Zealand) The coastal city of New Plymouth is located near Mt Taranaki home to the renowned Pouakai crossing and home to the delightful, luxury boutique – Nice Hotel
