The Boatshed on Waiheke Island – 35 minutes by ferry from Auckland brings together chic accommodation with the Island’s fantastic beaches, vineyards, coastal walks, and alfresco restaurants. A little slice of bohemian life!
Whichever way you arrive on Waiheke, be it by boat, plane or helicopter there is nothing like arriving on an island – with its relaxed pace of life and unpolished charm Waiheke offers a perfect start or finish to any New Zealand itinerary. Situated above Oneroa beach The Boatshed provides stylish accommodation with the highest level of design and service detail; the beautifully appointed guest rooms look out over the bay with plenty of alfresco spaces to enjoy your daily meals. Take a walk down to the beach, or read a book in the sun, relax and be pampered.
“The Bach” is a word used to describe small holiday cottages in New Zealand. They are places close to kiwis hearts…. places of sunny days and simple times. The Boatshed’s rooms and suites all have a little bit of The Bach in them, albeit with a quite a touch more comfort than most! Seven beautifully appointed suites, each offering privacy, sea views, open fires and the highest level of design detail – the beach holiday of your dreams. The Owner’s Cottage offers another level of privacy with its spacious interior and adjacent Cabana, together with a private pool. And the Water Tower features its own roof garden with outdoor bathing and stunning views.
With extensive kitchen gardens, the chef and gardener work closely to grow seasonal produce to highlight the best New Zealand has to offer from the farm to the sea. Fresh, healthy modern cuisine that is only available to guests staying in-house. The Boatshed believes there is no such thing as a romantic table for 14 so there is no communal dining; tables are discreetly set around the property for guest comfort and privacy.
Owned by the same family for 35 years this property was developed by well known New Zealand designer David Scott as the perfect beach retreat, and is run by the next generation of the family along with a small team of dedicated professionals. The place is geared around doing very little, relaxing with a great book, enjoying a lazy breakfast, having a massage or taking a stroll on the beach. But with the help of your Host’s intimate knowledge of the island those that like to explore won’t be disappointed, from vineyards and beautiful coastal walks to soft adventures like paddle boarding and kayaking – everyone’s tastes can be catered for.
