INDULGE IN NATURE AT GREENMANTLE ESTATE BOUTIQUE HOTEL – WELLINGTON – KAPTI

November 21, 2019

We‘re delighted to welcome Greenmantle Estate Boutique Hotel to our portfolio of small luxury boutique hotels, lodges and villas throughout New Zealand.

We’ve recently visited Greenmantle and loved the setting amongst manicured lawns and secret water gardens.

The impressive entrance leads to charming sitting rooms with large windows overlooking the garden. The hotel exudes an aura of warm hospitality.  Six beautifully appointed suites spill out to balconies and terraces overlooking the gardens. Four are located in the main hotel and two in the garden.

Kakariki Owners Cottage is decorated in soft pastels and offers a spacious living area with an open fire. French doors lead to the extensive balcony furnished with tables and chairs for al-fresco dining, and loungers to relax and take in the views to Kapiti Island.

The heated swimming pool looked enticing too with loungers and umbrellas to shelter from the sun. On a warm evening canapès and drinks and enjoyed here, or in the gracious sitting room in the hotel.

We loved the virgin Nikau Palm forest at the rear of the hotel.  Forest tracks lead through the palms to an outdoor hot tub – we’re told guests love to relax here in the evenings as the forest is floodlit. Climb further through the palms to the helipad and view the stars on a clear night.

The Kapiti Coast offers so much to do.  Kapiti Island’s Nature Reserve with its prolific birdlife is really worth a day trip; take a picnic lunch and meander through the bush tracks listening to the birds. Or, if visitors don’t wish to venture off-shore, Nga Manu Nature Reserve in nearby Waikanae offers a myriad of birdlife, together with New Zealand’s unique prehistoric reptile, the Tuatara. And a highlight is the newly opened nocturnal house giving visitors access to view the Kiwi.

For avid golfers, the acclaimed Paraparaumu Links Course is popular. The Southward Car Museum houses over 400 antique cars.

There’s a wide choice of cafes and restaurants in the Kapiti region and guests love to venture out to dine with the locals.

Greenmantle is just a 45-minute drive from Wellington City or there’s a very frequent train service if guests don’t wish to drive.

This hidden gem offers the perfect option for travellers wishing to avoid yet another busy city.
