Glen Aros Country Estate to host delegation from International Great Wine Capital Network
Monday, August 10th, 2009On 26 August a delegation from one of the world’s leading wine networks, The International Great Wine Capital Network, will arrive in Hastings to determine if it should be crowned New Zealand’s wine capital. Hastings was nominated because it is the gateway to the 4700 wine producing hectares of the Hawkes Bay area. Winning this award “will put Hastings and Hawkes Bay on the map like the Napa Valley (US)” according to Hastings’ mayor. Other wine capitals include Bilbao/Rioja in Spain, Bordeaux France, Florence Italy, Cape Town South Africa, Mendoza in Argentina, Porto in Portugal and Napa Valley.
While in Hastings the delegation will stay at Glen Aros Country Estate. Glen Aros is a beautifully restored classic New Zealand villa with wide verandahs, sweeping lawns and picturesque views of the Raukawa Valley. The estate features 6 luxury ensuite guest rooms, spacious living areas and plenty of private spaces. There are an onsite chef and 24 hour concierge, heated pool and spa, billiards and petanque, and a fully equipped conference room. Glen Aros is only a short drive from the many attractions of the Hawkes Bay region. Dine at wineries or local artisan food producers or visit Art Deco Napier. Pristine beaches, trout laden rivers and world class golf courses are also nearby.
