The November National Business Review has identified the most exciting companies within the Hotels and Accommodation sector in New Zealand, 2006. Awaroa Lodge situated in Abel Tasman National Park, tip of the South Island, was amongst those identified for its location and investment in eco tourism.
The exciting companies program is a research-based media series. Each month a different industry or sector of the economy is researched to find companies people are most excited about. In depth interviews were conducted with a wide range of industry executives. Interviews consisted of industry conditions, exciting developments and executives were asked to name the most exciting business they know, outside of their own.
Awaroa was mentioned consistently, especially in conjunction with its investment in eco tourism. Awaroa won the award for Innovation in Eco Tourism at the New Zealand Tourism Awards, 2005. As well as, the Award of Excellence by the Hospitality Association of New Zealand, 2005. Awaroa Lodge nestled in Abel Tasman National Park is seclusion at its peak, only accessible by water taxi, light plane, helicopter, or walking track.
