The luxurious Bishop’s Suites are set on a privately owned estate on the fringe of Nelson City, are annexed to a grand Victorian homestead built in 1925 for the first Bishop of Nelson.
The homestead and grounds have been restored and transformed into fine accommodation with an elegant classical ambience.
The Bishop’s Suites are luxury stand-alone apartments. Generously appointed, each has a warm and inviting style of its own. Think – rich fabrics, elegant furniture and beautiful Irish linen. Fresh fruit, scented candles, handmade chocolates, wine and beverages – all complimentary in your suite.

CUISINE
In the evening join your hosts for pre dinner cocktails and canapés followed by a 5-course candlelit dinner, in the dining room of the Homestead. A romantic dinner for two. Mary will create the perfect setting poolside in the gorgeous spa room, or maybe the Summerhouse in the garden or under the Oak Tree.
Wake to a sumptuous breakfast – you can choose to enjoy this in the privacy of your own suite or at the Homestead.

Mary and Peter have travelled extensively around the world and appreciate the meaning of a warm and personal welcome and professional service.
Mary supervised the refurbishment of the historic Bishopdale Homestead and the recent building of the Bishop’s Suites. Her flair can be seen in the resulting décor; Ralph Lauren inspired Suter and Sutton suites, the Oriental flavour of the Eaton and Hobhouse Suites or the Italian styled Trafalgar Lodge and Suite.
