The Beach House offers exclusive accommodation and a unique experience like no other.

A private island escape nestled on the edge of the crystal clear waters of Vivian Bay – you have discovered The Beach House.  Hear the calls of New Zealand’s native birds – tui, fantails, wood pigeons, and kingfishers and, as night falls, the sound of Morepork and Kiwi. The friendly Wekas will entertain you as they forage near the beach.

Deluxe beachfront suites, plus courtyard and bush accommodation in a quintessential natural New Zealand setting.

The fully licensed restaurant and bar is the heart of The Beach House, providing the best of New Zealand cuisine. Expansive decking and courtyards on the edge of the bay offer the perfect place to dine al-fresco.  The guest lounge and dining room  have sea views from every window, giving the feeling of serene isolation in an intimate stylish setting. In winter a roaring open fire and in summer large decks and courtyard extend down to the sandy beach, framed by an historic Pohutukawa tree, provide relaxed al-fresco dining and a touch of romance.

Take an exciting seaplane flight with Auckland Seaplanes from  downtown Auckland and land right outside The Beach House. Drive north on excellent highways to Sandspit, a pretty small ‘hamlet’ with historical beach cottages to connect with the  ferry  or private boat transfer across Kawau Bay. Step ashore at the jetty and stroll a few metres to The Beach House – kick off your shoes and feel the sand between your toes – time to relax and unwind

For the more active, take a beach walk or a more energetic bush hike. In the warmer months, the beach will draw you down to the water for swimming and snorkelling at any time of the tide. And at virtually any time of the year take the kayaks or SUP’s for a paddle around the sheltered bay. Don’t be surprised to find yourself sharing the pristine waters with frolicking dolphins. “Island Hop” excursions can be arranged.

At the end of the day,  watch the sun go down, enjoy the stunning sunset and marvel as the skies open to showcase the stars.  No light pollution, no roads, no cars – just  stunning ocean views, lapping water and the call of native birds.

Italians have a wonderful expression “la dolce niente” which translates as “the sweetness of doing nothing” and this may well be the most wonderful attraction at The Beach House. Hospitality, food, wine, a good book – the essential ingredients for a relaxing stay whether you’re curled up in front of the fire in winter or stretched out on a sun-lounger in summer.
